Pat Cummins Ready To Challenge Virat Kohli In First-Ever Pink Ball Test Between India And Australia

Australia’s premier pacer Pat Cummins, who was rested for the last ODI and three-match T20I series against India, is keen to take the challenge against Team India’s captain Virat Kohli in the first Test match in Adelaide. Notably, that match will be India’s first-ever day-night Test match against Australia at their home.
After the first Test, Kohli will return home to be with his wife Anushka Sharma, who is expecting the birth of their first child in early January.
Pat Cummins admits that rivalry between a batsman and a bowler keeps everyone hitched to the game, but he doesn’t want it to take a toll on him. Albeit, he is gearing for the challenge in the upcoming series.
“In terms of how that fits into the overall storyline I don’t really think about it too much but of course, growing up as a kid they are the kind of competitions and battles that you tune into TV for. (Glenn) McGrath bowling to (Brian) Lara, you have to watch. You knew something is going to happen. I love being in those moments, let’s see what happens this summer,” he added.
Pat Cummins feels fresh and rested after the rest:
As he is returning to Australia’s squad after a couple of weeks of rest, Pat Cummins feels fresh and is raring to play the all-important Test series. He reveals that he was training even during the break. He bowled on the centre wicket Adelaide Oval on Friday, simulating match conditions.
“Feels to be in a really good place, flying into Adelaide here (after the break) I feel fresh…the past week or so, I had a home, yeah it was great preparation for this pretty long four-Test series (that is) coming up.
“See some family, of course still training, had a couple of good hit-outs…trying to build some strength, yeah, preparing for this pretty long stint coming up. So yeah really liked to have that opportunity, feels like (I am in a great place) to pick out perfect preparation. I think that was pretty close to it, given all the circumstances,” said Pat Cummins.
Many cricket boffins have reckoned that the rest given to Pat Cummins might have disturbed his rhythm. Still, as the pacer feels fresh and confident, it would be interesting to see how he trouble Indian batsmen, who are inexperienced of playing with pink balls in Australian condition.
