India’s wicket-keeper batsman KL Rahul has been a stellar performer for the Indian national cricket team lately in the limited-overs format. He has thoroughly impressed the fans with his exquisite batting technique and street-smart wicketkeeping skills.

Meanwhile, England’s former wicketkeeper-batsman Paul Nixon opened up about the ongoing tussle for a consistent wicketkeeper-batsman in team India for the limited-overs setup. Ever since MS Dhoni took a nine-month-long sabbatical from the Indian team after the 2019 World Cup, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant have become the talk of the town in recent times.

However, it was KL Rahul who showcased his mettle by performing consistently. On the other hand, Pant had been given numerous chances but failed to make a good impression. But, his concussion in the ODI opener against Australia made way for Rahul, and there was no looking back for Karnataka wicketkeeper-batsman since then.

KL Rahul is world-class: Paul Nixon

Paul Nixon reckons that KL Rahul should be the preferred wicketkeeper-batsman for Team India as far as the limited-overs format is concerned. Speaking exclusively to CricketAddictor.com, Nixon reserved the highest respect for KL Rahul. Nixon thinks KL Rahul could be a high-class wicketkeeper-batsman for India.

“KL Rahul is a world-class batsman, I would actually love to do some wicketkeeping drills with him. I know I can help his game. He is a natural and wonderful athlete. There are certain things that need to be talked about, he should come up a bit earlier, his feet should get towards the offside a little earlier and his head should get in the line of his wrong foot. I think he could be a high-class wicketkeeper-batsman, I think a little bit of work, a few tweaks here and there, I think he could be world-class and India have got a wonderful chance at the world cup,” Nixon said.

The classy right-handed batsman chipped in with stellar performance in the T20I series against New Zealand which earned him the Man of the Series. With the way Rahul has been progressing as a wicket-keeper batsman for India, it is no doubt that he would be a regular feature for the Indian team in the times to come.
