PCB Announces 15-Man Pakistan Squad for the ICC World Cup 2019
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday (April 18) has named their provisional 15-member squad for the ICC World Cup 2019. The Men in Green will play England in the limited-overs series ahead of the much-awaited twelfth edition of the quadrennial event in the United Kingdom (UK). The multi-nation tourney will run between May 30 and July 14.
Inzamam-ul-Haq, the selection committee chief, has sat down to brief the press conference in detail regarding the World Cup squad.
During the previous ODI series, the selectors went on to rest six players including Shaheen Shah Afridi. Interestingly, they’ll have made it to the squad. Meanwhile, the selectors have surprisingly left out Mohammad Amir, who was well in line to be on the flight to England. Instead, he is as a reserve player alongside Asif Ali.
Besides, a youngster in the form of Abid Ali has made it to the coveted squad. He has recently slammed a century on his debut against Aaron Finch led Kangaroos. Mohammad Hasnain has been in the interesting pick and all eyes will be on him when the tournament kicks off on May 30.
After being rested for the home series against Australia in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), skipper Sarfraz Ahmed has made a return in the fold.
Earlier, a senior campaigner has led Pakistan in the five-match ODI series against Kangaroos before picking an injury amid the series.

However, all-rounder Imad Wasim has led Pakistan in a couple of matches at their second-adopted home. The visitors whitewashed Pakistan for the first time in the UAE since 2009.
Recently, the Board has strictly followed the procedure at the Gadaffi Stadium in Lahore. During the training camp, the officials have cleared things to the players regarding the fitness.
On Tuesday (April 16) at least twenty players have partaken during the opening day of the camp. The practice subsequently included a different set of drills. Also, apart from catching and throwing practice under the watchful eyes of coaches.
However, the fitness trials were conducted on April 15.
Since the introduction of Mickey Arthur as a chief coach, he has set the standard of fitness high. The Proteas reiterated they wouldn’t show relaxation regarding the fitness.
In the recent past, the fitness of players has improved with much-touted Yo-Yo test proving to be a boon or bane respectively for players in the cricketing arena.
Following the squad announcement Pakistan team will fly to London on April 23. The visitors will face off the Three Lions in five ODIs and One-off Twenty20 Internationals.
