PCB Issues Formal Notice To Nasir Jamshed Over Violation Of PCB’s Code Of Conduct

In the latest development on Tuesday, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), issued a formal notice to overlooked opening batsman Nasir Jamshed for not cooperating with the board’s Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) before being asked to file the response within 14 days.

The statement has suggested that the 27-year-old left-handed batsman has violated the rules of the board while becoming an obstruction during the investigation after the spot-fixing scandal surfaced in the recently concluded second edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL), in February.

“PCB’s investigations with regard to any potential breaches of the PCB Anti-Corruption Code will carry on as PCB continues with its relentless commitment to uproot the menace of corrupt practices from the game of cricket,” PCB release said.

The PCB statement stated that Jamshed has violated the Articles 2.4.6 and 2.4.7 of the board’s constitution, as the three-member committee chaired by Justice Asghar Haider is already hearing the cases of two international cricketers in the form of Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif, who have also been suspended from all forms of cricket.

“The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has today issued a Notice of Charge to Nasir Jamshaid for violation of Articles 2.4.6 and 2.4.7 of the PCB Anti-Corruption Code requiring him to respond within 14 days,” it added.

Earlier, Jamshed was arrested and eventually released on a bail during the investigation in Britain regarding the fixing saga and was ‘provisionally’ suspended from all forms of cricket.

It becomes pertinent that Jamshed, who is in the United Kingdom, was suspended on February 13th before being grilled by National Crime Agency of Britain, following the request from PCB over the international syndicate trying to corrupt the PSL games.

However, if proven guilty Jamshed would be in all sorts of bother as the punishment ranges from six months to a life ban.

On the other side, opening batsman Shahzaib Hasan has been sent to the Tribunal of Anti-Corruption Unit for further investigation, following the refusal from him over the charges which levelled by ACU.

The 27-year-old right-handed batsman Shahzaib is facing the charges for violating the following clauses; 2.1.4, 2.4.4 and 2.4.5 of the PCB’s code of conduct.

In the recent past, Pakistan cricketers were involved in the corruption scandal which further dates back to 1999 when Salim Malik and fast bowler Ataur Rehman were given a life ban following the investigation from the country’s board.

In similar and unfortunate incident for cricket in 2010, the then Pakistan skipper Salman Butt alongside two fast bowlers; Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir were banned for five years following their involvement in the fixing scandal.
