PCB To Oppose Staging Of Under-19 Asia Cup In India

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to oppose staging of Under-19 Asia Cup in India. Shahryar Khan will take up the matter at the meeting of Asian Cricket Council on August 11 and 12. As per the reports, India will host the tournament in the month of November.
BCCI has already written to the Home Ministry of Indian Government to grant them permission to invite Pakistan team for the tournament but now with PCB set to oppose India organising the tournament, there are high chances of the tournament being shifted out of India.

It is to be noted that Pakistan travelled to India last year to play T20 World Cup 2016 after getting security clearance and it is surprising to see the board opposing India hosting the games as it is a multilateral tournament.
The main reason for the move is the unhealthy political relations between the two nations. Also with BCCI not following the FTP, the move from PCB looks a political move.
“We definitely want to play the tournament, being an important member in the ACC. But playing in India in present circumstances is not possible. There will be a visa glitch and a lot of other off-field issues will prevail. We don’t want to face any inconvenience ahead of the event,” an official told ESPNcricinfo.

India and Pakistan last played a bilateral series in the year 2012/13 when Pakistan travelled to India for a limited overs series. After that, both the countries have faced each other in Champions Trophy, Asia Cup and World Cup but are yet to play each other in a bilateral series. The Indian government has already warned BCCI of not playing any bilateral series with Pakstan but now with PCB set to take such a move, it can have an impact on the cricketing ties between two nations as in this case, BCCI might look to boycott Pakistan even in ICC tournaments.
