Under the influence of newly-appointed chairman Najam Sethi, PCB decided to plead in Disputes Resolution Committee (DRC) to claim the reimbursement from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), after both countries are going through a strained relationship owing to the escalating tensions at the Line of Control.
While making the admission of reaching to the logical outcome, Sethi in the recent past made it clear – to find the resolution while finding the best possible avenues to recover the expenses after revealing BCCI has not honoured the MoU which was signed in 2014.
“The claim will be formally filed with the ICC any day,” PCB’s official was quoted as saying by PTI.
The 69-year-old Sethi is currently in the United Kingdom, to talk to the legal representatives of a British firm to its length and breadth.
The reports recently suggested PCB management has been told that they have a strong case against India after the two Asian giants signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
“The PCB has been told it has very good chances of winning the compensation claim against the BCCI,” the official of the Board added.
On the other side, the Chief Operating Officer (COO), Subhan Ahmad for PCB is also taking part in an active consultation in the UK.

Moreover, the Board of Governors (BoGs), for the PCB made the whooping amount of USD one million available, in a bid to claim the case against BCCI after revealing the Board has incurred massive loss since the MoU was signed owing to the expenses.
“PCB is confident of success because since 2015 it has offered the BCCI to even play at neutral venues if their government is not interested in sending the team to Pakistan or inviting Pakistan team India for security reasons,” a source within the Board concluded.
However, BCCI counterparts made it clear while stating the team will fly to Pakistan only after the clearance and permission of government owing to the security concerns and border skirmished.
Interestingly, under the MoU, the two teams were bound to play six bilateral series, in eight years between 2015 and 2013. At least four series were scheduled in Pakistan.
India and Pakistan were scheduled to play 30 One-day internationals, 12 Twenty20 internationals and 14 Tests during the eight-year cycle.
The third-time PCB chairman Sethi has played a significant role in bringing the World XI team to Pakistan for a three-match T20I series, as the 14-member team has expressed the satisfaction following the Presidential-level security.
Before the culmination of the Independence Cup successfully, Sethi was at the forefront when Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore hosted the final of the second edition of PSL on March 5.
