PCB retains Azhar Ali as the ODI captain for West Indies series

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the ODI squad for the five-match ODI series against West Indies in UAE. Azhar Ali is retained as the captain of the side even after Pakistan 4-1 defeat to England under his captaincy.
Azhar was heavily criticised for his unimaginative captaincy since taking the charge from former ODI captain Misbah-ul–Haq after the 2015 World Cup.
Azhar has played 25 matches as a captain, he lost 15 matches and won nine matches. The team dropped to ninth in the ODI ranking.
There is a talk about the sacking Azhar as captain of the side and give Sarfaraz Ahmed the charge of IDI side too alongside T20I.
Pakistan will play the three-match T20I series against West Indies and followed by that the ODI series will start.
According to the media report, PCB wants to sack Azhar as captain but they resisted the move for the time being.
PCB said the decision regarding giving former T20I captain Shahid Afridi and Saeed Ajmal a farewell will be taken at a meeting on September 26.
Afridi gave up the captaincy following the bad performance in the World T20 in India while Ajmal has lost his place in the team after failing to deliver wickets with a remodeled action following a chucking suspension in 2014.
Meanwhile, PCB didn’t rule out the possibility to bring in tainted cricketer Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif in the team.
