Spreading over 45-odd foreign tours, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) spent a whooping 18.6 million rupees on the officials since 2009, which only includes 5.5 million on its current chairman Shaharyar Khan.
This huge sum of money was spent on the four chairmen of PCB for the foreign tours since 2009, which includes Shaharyar Khan, Najam Sethi, Zaka Ashraf and Ijaz Butt.
Pakistan has not witnessed an international match at home except a short-series with Zimbabwe in 2015 after a gruesome attack on Sri Lankan team in Lahore in 2009.
According to the document made available to Express News, Shaharyar had been to India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, UAE and England, during the 14 tours which happened between October 2014 and July 2016.
During the International Cricket Council (ICC) meetings, around Rs 3.5 million was spent on accommodation abroad only and Rs 2 million on travel operations.
Bold in his decisions, Najam Sethi, who’s Executive Committee Chairman of PCB and Pakistan Super League (PCB), had 19 foreign visits on his name since November 2014 and June 2016.
Being at the forefront in negotiations with India over the bilateral series and PSL inauguration, Sethi had attended several meetings with the ICC and had been to Dubai often and twice in India before going to Qatar.
For the 19 outings, Sethi had spent around Rs 6.8 million, including Rs 3.5 million, which incurred on travel and 3.3 million on his accommodation.
In 2013 and 2014, Sethi while being as the PCB chairman had been to the UAE five times in his eight foreign tours.
Around Rs 3.3 million were withdrawn from PCB as Sethi had attended several ICC and Asian Cricket Council meetings in his tenure.
Former PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf the tally of RS 1.7 million on his name which included accommodation and daily allowance since January 2013 and March 2014.
Another former chairman Ijaz Butt spent some Rs 6.4 million on his foreign tours during his tenure between 2009 and 2010.
While being available for the ICC meetings, Ashraf had toured Singapore seven times and frequently visited to India, UAE, South Africa and England.
The coordination committee had earlier told the Pakistan cricket body – the PCB – to submit the details spent during the foreign tours on its officials.
Although, the staggering figures do not include air ticketing cost and the abroad accommodation which has been available by the ICC and the cricket boards in general.
