Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi is trying to ensure that no corruption takes place in the upcoming edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL).
He presided over a meeting with the six franchise owners of the league and have proposed specific rules to curb corruption. PCB was shocked when they found the wrongdoings by as many as six players, in the initial matches of the second edition. The board is keen to ensure that no fixing happens during the third edition which is expected to be played during February next year.
According to sources, PCB is planning to allow no officials to stay on the same floor of the hotel in which players reside. Moreover, if the franchise owners decide to speak to the players, they will have to converse in a meeting room.
The board are also set to implement curfew on players post 1 AM. All the players will not be allowed to leave their hotel rooms post this time, with PCB believing it to be a major step in curbing fixing.
The players will also need to inform to their respective team managers about their departure from the team hotel during the non-curfew hours. However, franchise owners are believed to be not inclined to the idea. The owners argue that players who are ready for wrongdoings will find certain other ways despite the curfew. However, they failed to convince the board over the removal of curfew.
PCB Disagree with Franchises over T10 League
PSL franchises have their reservations over allowing the players to play in the newly invented T10 league that will be played in Dubai from December.
PCB has allowed all the Pakistan players to take part in the event. But the franchises believe that the players are more prone to a misdemeanor in the shortest format. However, Najam Sethi has pushed aside their reservations, as he clarified that both PCB and ICC would be monitoring the league from any such misdeeds.
