Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar thinks people have the wrong perception about him. Akhtar said he is very down to the earth person in reality. He feels people have misjudged him and clearly wants to change his image.
“I am a simple guy and I am not a party guy or anything like that,” he said in a Private news channel. Only recently, Akhtar laughed off claims by Harbhajan Singh that he and Yuvraj Singh were once beaten up by him and called them his younger brothers.
Akhtar realised the importance of relations after his retirement from international cricket. He mentioned that he can never move away from Islamabad. He said, “I never missed my family on Eid or any such festivals as I came to know about relations after I got retired,” he told.
“I have never made anything in my whole life. I just have two t-shirts, jeans and a pair of slippers in which I roam,” he added.
The ‘Rawalpindi Express’ after his retirement has often been seen alongside fellow Indian commentator Virender Sehwag. Shoaib Akhtar will soon be seen judging the upcoming comedy show Indian Mazak League along with Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh.
Talking about his new role as a judge, an excited Shoaib says, “I am a fun loving person. More than being a judge, I am happy to be part of a grand show like the Indian Mazak League. I am sure with the kind of talent we have on the show it will be loads of fun. I will be actually paid to enjoy the jokes. I don’t think there can be a better job than this in the whole world.”
Akhter was asked some of the funniest cricketers he knows. “Take it from me, Pakistan dressing room was and is the best dressing room for a cricketer. There is so much banter, harmless leg-pulling, one-liners in the Pakistan team that my jaws use to ache due to all the laughing. It was fun to be with guys like Mohammed Yusuf, Shoaib Mallik. Even seniors like Wasim Akram and Inzamam-ul-Haq were unbelievably funny. I still can’t get over the mimicry acts of Shoaib Mallik, that man is on another level,” he replied.
