Kevin Pietersen Calls Rohit Sharma and His Wife Ritika Sajdeh ‘Great’
Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma roared back to form in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) with a match-winning innings against the Royal Challengers Bangalore on Tuesday night at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
The experienced campaigner Rohit looked totally out of touch in the first three matches and failed to make a mark. After Mumbai was reduced to 0/2, it was the team leader Rohit and explosive opener Evin Lewis who resurrected the innings and helped Mumbai reach a mammoth total in 20 allotted overs.
Rohit looked in complete control of proceedings. He began steadily and didn’t go for the expansive shots, to begin with.
Lewis was the aggressor during the partnership of 108 between the duo for the third wicket.
Rohit started going hammers and tongs in the death overs and almost managed to pull off an incredible century. Boundaries were flowing from his bat until he was caught in the last over after scoring 52-ball 94.
The brilliant innings was studded with 10 hits to the fence and five big sixes.
Later, it was Hardik Pandya who provided the late flurry with an unbeaten five-ball 17 which included a couple of sixes and a four.
Bangalore got off to a brisk start and raced off to 40 in only 4.2 overs. However, Mitchell McClenaghan provided a double break in the fifth over which pegged them back badly.
It included the wickets of Quinton de Kock and AB de Villiers. Bangalore kept losing wickets at regular intervals and it showed on the face of skipper Kohli. He was the lone man standing as none of the batsmen could give him ample support. He was utterly disappointed as Bangalore eventually lost by 46 runs.
Kohli batted through the innings and remained unbeaten on 92. At the presentation ceremony, he said that doesn’t want to wear the orange cap now.
Meanwhile, skipper Rohit Sharma was pretty satisfied with the victory and so was his wife Ritika Sajdeh. She was seen cheering for his husband and Mumbai from the crowd.
Following his match-winning knock, the Hitman was interviewed by none other than Kevin Pietersen. The former English batsman shared his experience during the interview which will be out on Star Sports pretty soon.
Pietersen took to his twitter handle and posted a picture with Rohit Sharma and his wife with a caption:
“There are good people & there are great people. @ImRo45 & his wife are great. They’re dedicated to being the voice for the voiceless. I interviewed Rohit this morning. Coming to @StarSportsIndia soon.”
