Player ratings of Indian players after NZ bowlers bamboozled them
In the 2016 World T20 beginner at Jamtha, Nagpur New Zealand spinners-Mitchell Santner, Nathan McCullum and Ish Sodhi bamboozled India and bring New Zealand a convincing victory over the host India.
Black Caps captain Kane Williamson winning the toss decided to bat first. But, they started to hitting Indian bowlers from the very first ball of the match. But, that didn’t work for them, they lost wickets in regular interval. Corey’s Anderson 34 and Luke Ronchi’s 11 balls 21 helped New Zealand to give India a target of 128 which was too much for India as the latter were bowled for only 79.
Here are ratings of Indian players:
Ravichandran Ashwin: He has gone very expensive today, conceded 13 runs in the first over and 10 in the second over. MS Dhoni introduced him in the very first over of the match. Black Caps launched a straight lofted shot that crossed the top. In the next delivery, Guptill became a victim of a wrong decision as Ashwin appealed for lbw. Ashwin conceded 31 runs in four overs as other bowlers rattled New Zealand batsman.
Ashish Nehra: The seamer came in the second over of the match. He gave India the wicket of destructive Colin Munro, who reverse swept a big six over the deep square leg boundary. The seamer bowled only two overs and conceded only six runs and gave India the second breakthrough.
Suresh Raina: Raina gave India most important New Zealand wicket-captain Kane Willaimson. He bowled four overs and conceded only 15 runs. Ross Taylor lost his wicket to his brilliant piece of fielding. But, with the bat, he contributed only one run.
Bumrah: The bowler conceded only 15 runs in four overs and took the wicket of Corey Anderson who tried to play a paddle sweep against his delivery and middle stump was uprooted.
Ravindra Jadeja: The off-spinner conceded 26 runs and took one wicket. He took the wicket of Mitchell Santner.
Hardik Pandya: He just bowled only one over and conceded only 10 overs. His contribution with the bat is also not good as he scored only one run before Mitchell Santner trapped him lbw.
Rohit Sharma: The opener played a lazy shot against the leg spin of Mitchell Santner. He came down the pitch to hit the ball, but wicketkeeper Luke Ronchi tugged bails.
Yuvraj Singh: He scored four runs off five balls before caught and bowled by Nathan McCullum.
Shikhar Dhawan: He was trapped lbw against Nathan McCullum. He scored only one run.
Virat Kohli: The right-handed batsman scored 23 off 27 balls before edging Ish Sodhi to wicketkeeper Luke Ronchi.
MS Dhoni: He tried he salvage the shrinking ship. But, under pressure, no more batsman in hand had to depart after playing a 30 balls 30 runs innings. But, he made an error as a captain as he picked two specialist spinners while his counterpart Williamson played three spinners who bamboozled India.
