The BCCI has stopped sporting gear which has its logo and has asked match referees to see the it that the players, both current or discarded, do not sport a BCCI logo.

After a player gets selected in the Indian Team, he wears the Indian helmets, jerseys or caps even in domestic cricket. The BCCI says that it wants to stop that.

“The rule has been there from the start of the season but has only been implemented in all earnestness during the recently-concluded Deodhar Trophy final between West Zone and East Zone,” a BCCI official told PTI on Sunday”

“The clear instruction given to the match referees is to tell team officials that the players are not permitted to use India jerseys, caps or helmets. If the players inadvertently wear India stuff, there should be taping on the helmet crest or caps. That’s the reason match referee Sanjay Raul intimated both Delhi and Saurashtra managers about BCCI diktat,” the source added.

Kedar Jadhav taped his BCCI logo while playing in the Deodhar trophy final while Gambhir, Sehwag and Unmukt Chand taped theirs too in the Ranji match against Saurashtra.

The BCCI says it has been from long that a player steps out with a BCCI logo on their helmets or jerseys. But it should be that the players should respect their state, state cap and jerseys.

Not all states provide helmets with association logos, only Mumbai and Tamil Nadu do but players should always try to be a part of the team rather and being superior, the BCCI said.
