Shikhar Dhawan
With more than 3,000 runs in just 76 matches at a strike rate of around 90 is a good performance as an ODI opener but consistency is the key factor in Shikhar Dhawan’s statistics. So far, he has scored nine centuries, and all of them came at a crucial stage. His irregularity in the starts is the primary reason for him being criticised by people.
Shikhar Dhawan was the leading run-scorer in the 2013 Champions Trophy. He along with Rohit Sharma was successful in providing significant partnerships up the order. His average in ODIs is better than Rohit Sharma but somewhere he has lost his stability, and that is what selectors would keep in mind while opting for the other opener. He needs to bat well in domestic circuit to make it to the Champions Trophy squad.
