2. 181* Matthew Hayden Vs. New Zealand: It was back in 2007 in the Chappell Hadlee trophy when Hayden smashed a brilliant unbeaten knock of 181 runs off 166 deliveries with 11 fours and 10 sixes. Australia scored 346 runs in the match. In reply, New Zealand chased to the total brilliantly and by the courtesy of a brilliant innings from Brendon McCullum at the end, New Zealand won the match by a margin of 1 wicket with 3 balls to spare.
3. 175 Sachin Tendulkar Vs. Australia: Well that match still happens to be one of the most heart breaking match for any Indian fan. Chasing down 350 runs, India looked solid right from the start and Sachin played brilliantly. He went on to score 175 runs when he tried to scoop a ball over the long leg region but was eventually caught at the fine leg. India lost the match eventually by 3 runs after being poised at a situation for clinching the victory.
4. 167* Robin Smith Vs. Australia: It was in 1993 when Robin Smith smashed a brilliant knock of 167 runs off 163 deliveries for England against Australia. England went onto score a total of 277 runs in the match but ultimately ended up in losing the match.
5. 164 Ricky Ponting Vs. South Africa: This happens to be one of the brilliant one dayers in the history of the game. Batting first at Johannesburg, Australia posed a mammoth total of 434 runs courtesy of a fantastic innings from the Aussie captain. South Africa, in reply batted brilliantly and successfully chased an unbelievable target. They went onto score 438 runs and South Africa won the match. This happens to be the highest ever chase till date.
