It is Ricky Ponting, former captain of Australia who leads the table with 165 wins in 230 matches. Following him is another former Australian Captain Allan Border with 107 wins in 178 ODI matches. These two are the only captains who have more 100 ODI wins to their names as a Captain. MS Dhoni has now jumped to 3rd position as he become the third captain who has 101 wins to his credit.
Other two Indian captains to make it to the list are Mohammed Azharuddin and Sourav Ganguly. Hansie Cronje and Stephen Fleming, former captains of SA and NZ respectively were the other two captains who got close 100 ODI wins but fell short of a couple of wins.
With many more ODI tours lined up for India, MS Dhoni has a good chance to overcome Alan Border’s record of winning 107 ODIs, but can he overtake Ricky Ponting?
