Playing As A Unit The Only Reason Behind India’s Good Run In Tests: Virat Kohli
India, the No. 1 ranked Test team in the world currently, has played some unbelievable cricket in the past one year or so. The team is yet to lose a Test series under Virat Kohli’s captaincy, who himself has been in fine form. The Delhi lad succeeded Mahendra Singh Dhoni as India’s Test captain after the latter retired from the longer version of the game in December 2015.
India have got the better of the West indies, New Zealand and South Africa in the past 12 to 14 months. Players like Ravichandran Ashwin, Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara have excelled and helped their team register big wins.
Kohli hailed the collective performance of the Indian cricket team and spoke about how the team approaches a session and how the decisions in the team are taken with everybody’s consent. He also spoke about the eagerness of the players to follow what has been told by the management.
According to Kohli, collective effort has been the key to such overwhelming performances.
“It’s mostly been collective, most of the times,” Kohli said.
“Because we decide as a team when we bat. What we need to do, how to approach an innings, the session, the spell. The message is always conveyed collectively.
“It’s not about going into your own zone but its about executing what’s been told by the team management.
“That is why we have had more team performances in the last 12 to 14 months than individuals standing out to an extent that others look ordinary. It helps in an batting fourth situation that you give an advice and the guys want to follow it as well and that has been very very good with this team,” he concluded.
