Former England off-spinner has poked fun at Fakhar Zaman‘s name. Pertinently, the attacking spinner who’s known for having a ‘good sense of humour’ is further hopeful to see Pakistan’s aggressive batsman emerging as one of the premium players in the contemporary cricket.
Zaman has impressed one and all with his entry in the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy which further saw him blasting an excellent ton in the finale against India at the Oval after a no-ball reprieve from Jasprit Bumrah.
Zaman, who average over 54, has amassed 1,583 runs in 33 ODI since 2017. He has four hundreds and nine half-centuries to his name.
Recently, cricketing pundits reiterated Zaman could play a quintessential role for the Sarfraz Ahmed-led side in the forthcoming World Cup. The multi-nation tournament will commence from May 30 when host England will take on South Africa in London.
Meanwhile, Pakistan will kick-off their World Cup campaign against Windies on May 31st.
However, Zaman’s 84-ball hundred has somewhat issued a warning for the opponents.
Graeme Swann pokes fun at Zaman’s name via a Tweet:
The 40-year-old Swann made a tweet after Zaman slammed a fine hundred in the second One-day International (ODI) of the five-match series against England.
On May 11, the left-handed batsman smashed 138 at Southampton. However, in the ongoing match at the Bristol Zaman returned to the pavilion after scoring two off four balls.
The humourous tweet has further become the prime reason for discussion over the micro-blogging website Twitter.
Swann during his heydays with the English team has emerged as a humouristic character. In the latest tweet, Swann pokes fun over the sound of Zaman’s name in the English language. However, Fakhar means ‘pride’ in Urdu and has the origin of Arabic.

Even the giants of cricket couldn’t pronounce Zaman’s name well, or they tend to forget his complete name. In 2018, when Australia played a Tests series against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Mark Waugh mispronounced his name.
However, during the Fox Sports show, Brett Lee came to his rescue with host Neroli Meadows left couldn’t stop her laugh.
