Darren Bravo has been sent back home from Zimbabwe, where he was set to play the tri-series also involving Sri Lanka, after he lashed out at the WICB President Dave Cameron on social media.
On Thursday, Bravo’s ‘Big Idiot’ tweet on Cameron created huge fuss after the southpaw was demoted to grade ‘C’ contract due to his slipping batting average.
“You hav been failing 4 d last 4yrs. Y don’t u resign and FYI I’ve neva been given an A contract. Big idiot @davec51
An unhappy board and the President soon came into action and said Bravo’s average have gone down in past few years and it is the sole reason behind the reason why he has been demoted. Darren Bravo has now been replaced by Jason Mohammed for the tri-series.
Bravo has been replaced due to “inappropriate and unacceptable behaviour, which is contrary to his contractual obligations to the WICB”.
“Clearly states not to make any statement in or to any form of media (which shall include, without limitation, print media, television, radio, internet or any social networking media), or any other public statement, which would bring yourself, WICB or any official or authorised representative of WICB or the game of cricket into disrepute, and your agreement to use all such media in a responsible manner” a statement from WICB reads.
The tri-series between Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, and West Indies starts from November 15 and Bravo was one of the few batsmen who was the part of the squad and now with him being ousted, the situation of West Indies has gone bad to worse.
Recently, the West Indies failed to win even a single ODI or T20I against Pakistan in U.A.E. However, they won the final Test match of the three-match series.
