Stern conditions, rules, and regulations led to the rise of conflict of interest in BCCI in past few years. As a result, many of the administrators, players and people associated with BCCI had to choose between BCCI and their personal interest as they were not allowed to carry on with both the work simultaneously. One of the people belonging to this category was the former chief selector of Indian cricket team, Sandeep Patil. Earlier, he usually used to appear on cricket show as a cricket expert but had to quit that job when he was chosen as the chief selector of Indian cricket team.

Now after retiring from that post, Sandeep Patil is back on television as a cricket expert. Not only had this, as soon after retiring from that post, Patil made some shocking revelations regarding Indian cricket team. He revealed that the selection panel was thinking to drop Sachin Tendulkar, he revealed that selectors were thinking to remove M.S. Dhoni from captaincy etc.

Patil was roped in by ABP News channel (then known as Star News) as a cricket expert in the year 2004. Since then, he was seen daily on their cricket show giving his opinions on the game daily. Saba Karim too joined the channel a few years later but both of them had to leave this show as the duo was selected as the selectors of Indian cricket team but soon after his retirement, the former chief selector has rejoined the channel whereas Saba Karim is yet to join any channel as a cricket expert.

The presence of a former player attracts public which leads to a rise in TRP of these TV shows and having former selectors of the Indian cricket team in expert panel adds to their weight. That is the reason why TV channels always opt for an eminent personality.

We can often see former players like Sourav Ganguly, Kris Srikanth, Chetan Sharma, Madan Lal, Chetan Chauhan, Syed Kirmani sitting in T.V. shows giving their expert opinion on the game. This is the best way in which a television channel can attract viewers.
