Former Indian player Pravin Amre and domestic stalwart Surendra Bhave has too jumped in the race for the post of head coach of Indian cricket team. Amre and Bhave join the list of Ravi Shastri, Sandeep Patil, Venkatesh Prasad and few others who have applied for the post.

Pravin Amre who scored a century on his debut in Durban against south Africa is one of the renowned coach in the cricket circles as the former Indian player played a significant role in improving skills of Robin Uthappa and helped him to stage a comeback in the Indian team. Also, players like Dinesh Kartik, Suresh Raina, Naman Ojha and Ajinkya Rahane has worked with Amre and have received personal coaching from him.

Uthappa openly credited Amre for his success. Amre was the coach of Mumbai Ranji team and nurtured players like Shreyas Iyer who was the highest run-scorer for his team that too in his debut season. Mumbai Ranji team has won three titles under him. Amre has worked with India A and Delhi Daredevils in the past.

On the other hand, Surendra Bhave is probably the only aspirant in the list who have never played international cricket. He is a well-known coach in the domestic circuit just like Amre. He focuses more on technique and is known for making batsman a complete player. After his retirement from cricket, he turned all his focus on coaching and has helped many players. He was the coach of Maharashtra team who lost to Mumbai in the final of Ranji trophy. From past two seasons, he has been working with Haryana team to nurture the raw talents of Haryana. He is known to be a busy coach as he is always seen roaming around the ground to keep his focus on the batsman of his team as well as a batsman of opposite team. Ranji Trophy of 1992-93 was one of the highest points in his life, as a captain, he led the team to final of Ranji trophy where the team lost to Punjab. He served as a national selector from 2008 to 2012. Despite no international experience, he is one of the strongest contenders for the post.
