Last Year (2014) CLASHES
The first the two battled out in 2014 was on the 23rd April at Dubai. It was low scoring encounter as Rajasthan won the toss and elected to field. Chennai Super Kings powerful batting line was restricted to a modest total of 140 with Dwayne Smith being the top scorer with 50. While Chasing Rajasthan Royals made a mess of the total and were bowled out for 133 runs. Chennai won this game by 7 runs.
20 days later they met again this time in Ranchi on 13th May. This time Rajasthan Royals won the toss and elected to bat first. They never got a good start to their team and lost wickets at regular intervals. Rajasthan Royals were able to score 148 for 8 in 20 overs. While Chasing Chennai were made to sweat to get to the target. Dwayne Smith scored a brilliant 50 while Dhoni scored important 26 off 16 balls to help Chennai win by 5 wickets with 2 balls to spare.
Dwayne Smith was the star with bat against Mumbai Indians. He gave the team a flying start to the team and created pressure on the Mumbai Indians bowling. Against Rajasthan Royals he will be an important man to give another flyer to the team so that the middle orders can bulid upon on the start.
Ashish Nehra has been bowling well in this IPL edition. In the previous match against Mumbai Indians he took 2 wickets in the start and just broke the backbone of the Mumbai Indians batting line up. Against Rajasthan Royals MS Dhoni will be hoping that he can provide initial breakthroughs which will make the work of other bowlers easy.
Against Sunrisers Hyderabad Rahane provided a solid start to the team playing some wonderful strokes and just took his time in the middle. He and Sanju Samson gave Rajasthan Royals a perfect start putting 64 for the 1st wicket. Against Chennai Super Kings his role will be to play the whole innings and put up a respectable total for Chennai Super Kings to chase down.
Pravin Tambe has been bowling well in this year IPL edition too. He has created pressure on the batsmen throughout the innings. Against Sunrisers he was special with his bowling picking 2 wickets and giving only 21 runs. Against Chennai Super Kings his role will be to pick wickets and also stop the run flow.
