Delhi Capitals opening batsman Prithvi Shaw has revealed that the aim of the franchise will be to make the most of training sessions in the UAE. It has been a long time since the players have been able to train outdoors and all the players will look to find their impetus. It is expected that the players will take time before they can hit the ground running. As all the teams will get one month to train before the IPL, it should be sufficient in getting them ready for the competition.

Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals were able to tick the right boxes in the previous season of IPL 2019. The franchise was able to make it to the playoff stages after six years as they came up with a collective effort. Consequently, they would aim to replicate their success.

Shaw didn’t have the best of the seasons though as he scored 353 runs in 16 matches at a meagre average of 22.06 and a strike rate of 133.71 including two fifties. Thus, the youngster would aim to turn the tables in the upcoming season for the club. Prithvi Shaw feels it is going to be challenging for all the players to get going in the IPL.

“We know people have a lot of expectations from us, but our focus will be on making the most of the training sessions we get in and re-creating that fantastic team environment which made us so successful last year. We also have the chance to gel with the new players and then set our sights on the IPL season,” ESPNcricinfo quoted Shaw as saying.

“There is no doubt that it will be a challenging trip for everyone involved. But like everyone else, I’ve spent these last few months focusing on my physical and mental health, and taking care of my family,” Shaw said.

“So the time I’ve managed to spend with them has put me in a positive frame of mind. However, this IPL will be a very different experience for all of us, and we need to make sure that we are all very positive when we hit the ground running. The key is to take one step at a time,” he added.

Prithvi Shaw has thus far played 25 IPL matches in which he has scored 598 runs at an average of 23.92 and a strike rate of 141.04. The prodigy right-hander has shown all the skills to go a long way in his career and he would aim to be consistent for the franchise.

The IPL will begin in the UAE from September 19 with Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Dubai to host all the matches.
