Kolkata Knight Riders is a team which surely doesn’t believe in the individual milestones of players. Rather, the men from Kolkata focus on integrating well as a team and gelling closely. The premier reason behind their profound success has been that they have played extremely well as a team. The players have complimented each other well, and by doing their tasks with ease, it has just made life easier for the other members. Atleast this is what the team mentor and bowling coach Wasim Akram feels.

Wasim Akram, was quoted saying, “It’s a team sport. We never rely on any particular player in the batting or bowling. Everyone has got a responsibility. They are enjoying their roles and our captain is leading from the front.”

From the statistical front, no batsman from KKR is in top 10 run scorer. Nor does any bowler from KKR figure in the list of the top 10 wicket takers. Despite that, the Knight Riders have been phenomenal and are just one win from making it to the playoffs in all probability. Their game later today against the Mumbai Indians will be a crucial one for both the teams.

Akram also praised Gambhir for his leadership qualities. “In my opinion, he (Gambhir) is one of the best captains in the IPL, always going for wickets. He never goes for dot balls. Even in the 15th or 16th over, there will be a short leg, a slip atleast for a few balls to create pressure on the new batsman. Everybody is enjoying each other’s success. Our coach Trevor Bayliss likes to keep things simple,” signed off Akram.
