Pakistan Super League (PSL) has reached his moonlight stage with one of the four teams in the name of Quetta Gladiators qualifying for the finals. Edging past Peshawar Zalmi in a one- run thriller, Gladiators rolled over the line to enter last two for second time in a row.
Led by Darren Sammy, Peshawar won the toss and asked the Gladiators to bat first. The star studded side started amazingly, as Ahmed Shehzad and Kevin Pietersen bashed nine boundaries and seven sixes among them to see their side cross 100 under 10 overs.
Some assistance from the lower-order then helped Gladiators to post exact 200 on board for the loss of seven wickets. Out of them, four went into the kitty of speedster Wahab Riaz.
In reply, Peshawar lost quick wickets but held back the momentum with half-centuries from Dawid Malan (56) and Mohammad Hafeez (77). Pakistan’s batting stalwart Shahid Afridi then came up with his usual stuff of whacking ball over the boundary line. He did it three times before giving away his wicket. Afridi’s 13-ball 34 did help the chasers come close but they failed to get past the finishing line.
Also, to add more salt to the injury, last over saw three wickets falling, of which two of them were run-outs. Chasing a hefty total of 200, Peshawar could only manage 199/9. Opener Ahmed Shahzad was adjudged Player of the match.
