PSL 2017: Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium To Host Second Edition's Finale 1
Islamabad United won the inaugural edition of the Pakistan Super League in 2016.

The second season of Pakistan Super League (PSL) is just around the corner and PCB’s executive committee chairman Najam Sethi has laid down the speculations by revealing Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore as the venue for the final of the league, which starts on February 12.

Earlier, Dubai stadium was considered to host the summit clash but the plan was dropped later after the meeting between Najam Sethi and Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan took place.

Sethi later admitted the minister also promised to provide security for hosting the country’s domestic mega event final in Lahore.

“I have met Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and he was happy over the decision of holding the PSL final in Lahore. The minister has promised all kinds of security and the Punjab government is also ready to help us, so, we have decided to cancel the booking of Dubai stadium to hold the final in Lahore.”

Being the chairman of the committee, Sethi said the PCB has proposed the WICB to play two T20Is in their homeland and can be sure of the security concerns by sending their delegations on January 17-18. Giles Clarke, the ICC Task Force chairman, is also expected to be in the country to revive international cricket in Pakistan.

“We have proposed these dates for the West Indies’ security delegation because ICC Task Force on Pakistan chairman Giles Clarke will also be in Pakistan during those days. It will be better for us if the West Indies delegation visits Lahore on Jan 17-18 in the presence of Clarke, who is also working on reviving international cricket in Pakistan,” Sethi concluded.
