Here comes the big pick in Pakistan Super League 2019 (PSL 2019) auctions. Lahore Qalanders grabbed the services of AB de Villiers for the upcoming edition in the platinum round. During the course, they also bagged the services of experienced Mohammad Hafeez.

The auctions were kickstarted on Tuesday at Islamabad. All the analysts headed with the bundle of papers to bag their players for the upcoming edition. Of all, the cynosure of the eyes has been AB de Villiers and Lahore Qalanders were right on their plans in acquiring him.

Steven Smith goes for the unnamed sixth team:

Meanwhile, the sixth team, which is yet to be named has grabbed the services of Steven Smith for the upcoming edition. It means Steven Smith will join the likes of Kumar Sangakkara, Shoaib Malik in the upcoming edition.

Coming to the tournament, the fourth season of the league will feature six franchises: Islamabad United, Peshawar Zalmi, Quetta Gladiators, Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars and the ‘Sixth Team,’ which is yet to be named.

As far as the retentions are concerned, the defending champions Islamabad United retained 10 players, leaving space for six more. Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, Peshawar Zalmi and the sixth team retained eight players thus leaving the spot for another eight apiece. Quetta Gladiators retained nine players.

All in all, Lahore Qalandars and the sixth team has made massive signings for their franchise. The addition of AB de Villiers and Steven Smith will certainly bring a lot of quality for the team during the season.

Lahore Qalandars also bagged the services of Corey Anderson, who is the newbie in the auction list. In total, there are as many as 663 foreign and local players to choose from for PSL 2019.
