Ravichandran Ashwin has just shown why cricket is called a gentlemen’s game. The Indian off-spinner has wished Pakistani spinner Yasir Shah luck to break his record of the fastest Asian bowler to take 100 wickets in Tests.
The Pakistani leg-spinner needs five more wickets in the ongoing Test match against West Indies to break Ashwin’s record. Apart from this, the match also holds another importance as it is the first day-night Test for both the sides and also the second in the history of the game. The match is also Pakistan’s 400th Test match.
Well, Ashwin, who has been performing brilliantly in the last couple of years, reached the milestone of taking 100 wickets in his 18th match while Shah has currently taken 95 wickets in 16 Tests so far and is playing his 17th match against West Indies right now.
Faizan Lakhani, a Pakistani journalist posted a tweet on Wednesday to remind everyone of the record that Shah can break. He tweeted:
Chance for @Shah64Y to become fastest Asian to reach 100 Test wkts, need 5 in Dubai to surpass India's @ashwinravi99 https://t.co/6U5OtGp9Wf
