The next edition of IPL is round the corner. The franchises have announced the list of the retained-released players before the auction. Rahul Dravid has the match-winning advise for the franchise in Indian Premier League.
Rahul Dravid, head of cricket in NCA, has advised the IPL franchise to appoint local coaches in the team as they have a better knowledge of pitches and players. They can give better advice than the foreign coaches, he feels
“I believe we’ve got some very good coaches, a lot of good people. I’m fully confident [in their ability]. Just as we have a lot of talent in the cricket department, we have a lot of talent in the coaching department,” Dravid said in Lucknow on Thursday.
IPL teams ‘missing a trick’ by not using more Indian coaches – Rahul Dravid
The former Indian cricketer wants to start a program which will help the local players to make their career in the coaching department. Dravid feels that the local players should be given chance in the coaching department during the IPL which will help in developing the skills and confidence.
Further, he adds, that admitting local knowledge is a trick to win the matches in IPL. However, he said that it is his personal view.

“I think a lot of IPL teams miss a trick by not using more domestic talent in the coaching area and the talent identification area, even if it is as assistants. That’s my personal opinion.”
“It’s not for me to decide for franchises and head coaches what they do, but I think they miss a trick by not involving more Indian coaches. but I would love to see a lot of our boys get the opportunity to be in and around that environment. Hopefully, we can work with some teams to try and ensure that.”
Rahul Dravid was in Lucknow to watch the match between India U-19 and Afghanistan U-19. Before holding his position in NCA, he was the head coach of India A and India U-19.
