Want to be a professional cricketer?
It was not easy to breathe down the neck of a batsman like Rahul Dravid. Dravid always had a compact batting technique under his belt and he was a magician with the bat. Meanwhile, Rahul Dravid also has some experience of playing T20 cricket. The Wall had played one T20I for India in which he had smashed a hat-trick of sixes against England. Furthermore, he had also led Rajasthan Royals in the IPL.
Dravid has seen the rapid rise of the shortest format of the game. Meanwhile, the former Indian skipper also revealed the toughest T20 bowler he faced in his career. Rahul Dravid revealed that Sri Lanka’s talisman fast bowler Lasith Malinga was the toughest T20 bowler he faced in his career. In fact, Malinga is the leading wicket-taker in the Indian Premier League as he has scalped 154 wickets in his illustrious IPL career.
Bumrah is like the younger version of Malinga.
Rahul Dravid said while talking to ESPN Cricinfo, “I think the hardest T20 bowler I have faced would have to be Malinga. If you look at Malinga’s ability to execute the yorker and the slower one absolutely at will was brilliant. So, I think Malinga was the best T20 bowler I faced. Bumrah is really good at the moment but I didn’t play Bumrah. He is almost like a younger version of Malinga”.
Meanwhile, Rahul Dravid also said that Chris Gayle will be the best T20 player he would like to pick in his team. In fact, Dravid also stated he would have liked to emulate some of the shots that AB de Villiers plays.
Rahul Dravid added, “His (AB de Villiers) ability to go to off-side and hit the spinners over the square leg boundary is outstanding. Some of the shots he plays are incredible, I don’t even know what to call them”.
Furthermore, Rahul Dravid also picked the win against Chennai Super Kings as one of his memorable T20 matches.
Dravid revealed that he didn’t contribute much with the bat in that match but his tactical changes in the field had helped them defeat the potent Chennai side in Jaipur.
Meanwhile, IPL 2019 will kickstart with reigning champions Chennai Super Kings taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore at Chepauk Stadium on 23rd March.
