India’s Under-19 and India A coach Rahul Dravid is set to take charge of the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. Dravid has guided the young talent of the country to the right path of success while providing them with his deep insights. The former number three has coached the Under-19 and India A with aplomb and the results are a testimony of the fact.
Consequently, Rahul Dravid has done a great job in guiding the young players. He has all the experience under his belt and he has made use of the same with great success. As a former cricketer himself, Dravid is aware of the different situations a budding cricketer goes through to savour success at the topmost level.
Dravid is that gardener who has watered some blossoming flowers in Indian cricket.
“Rahul has been handling junior cricket for a while now and the results have been phenomenal. It’s only natural that he had to get involved with affairs at the NCA (in the present position). Now, he’s determined to bring about a complete turnaround at the academy,” said an official as quoted by TOI.
On the other hand, a total of 22 coaches have been shortlisted for a recent orientation programme across the country. Meanwhile, Rahul Dravid already has a road map for the things he wants to do at the NCA.
Dravid is the epitome of patience.
Dravid wants the youngsters to play as many matches as possible. Furthermore, 20 players used to get shortlisted out of which 15 were selected and the remaining five were asked to head back home. However, the Wall wants all 20 to train at the NCA.
“He has simpler things in mind to start with. Rahul is clear that the emphasis, at all times, has to be on youngsters playing as many matches as possible. So, that’s the first thing he’s pitched for. Second, there used to be this process where if 20 youngsters would be shortlisted for NCA and 15 eventually picked, the remaining five-odd would be asked to return home. He wants that changed. Every youngster picked and shortlisted will continue to be at the NCA. The emphasis will be on playing as much quality cricket as possible,” add sources.
Rahul Dravid has been a guiding light for the young players. He has done a great job and NCA will definitely improve if he goes on to take charge at the academy. It is going to be of great help for the young players as Dravid has produced staggering results in the last four years.
