Rahul Dravid is set to continue his association with the Indian cricket team as he has been recently reportedly appointed as the head coach of the Indian cricket team. Rahul Dravid, who was one of the BCCI’s guests for the IPL 2021 final, was reportedly finalized for the job on Friday night.
Rahul Dravid’s contract will run till 2023. He will take over the job after the conclusion of the forthcoming T20I World Cup 2021, which ends in November. The former batsman is presently the head of the National Cricket Academy and will leave that post before taking over as India’s head coach. Ravi Shastri will step down as coach after his tenure ends.
Rahul Dravid Offered A Hefty Contract And Will Draw A Salary Of Rs. 10 Crores
The report adds that new coach Rahul Dravid has been offered a hefty contract and will be drawing a salary of Rs 10 crore. The amount makes him one of the highest-paid Indian coaches. In addition, the report adds that Paras Mhambrey will join the new coach as bowling coach while Vikram Rathour will continue as the batting coach.
Paras Mhambrey has worked with the former batsman and skipper at the U-19 level and also travelled to Sri Lanka in the same capacity. In addition, he was the head coach of the India U-19 cricket team, which made it to the final of the 2020 World Cup.

The development happened in Dubai when BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah held a meeting with Rahul Dravid and persuaded him to become the coach of the Indian team after the T20 World Cup in UAE.
Paras Mhambrey To Replace Bharat Arun As Bowling Coach
Rahul Dravid will be replacing Ravi Shastri, whereas Paras Mhambrey will replace Bharat Arun. There is no word on fielding coach R Sridhar’s replacement, however. Under Rahul Dravid, Team India will likely play 3 ICC events in the near future. There’s a T20 World Cup scheduled next year and a 50-over ODI World Cup in 2023. In addition, the final of the World Test Championship is also scheduled to take place in 2023.
This will be the third time when Rahul Dravid will be working with Team India. His first stint came in 2014 when he travelled to England as a batting consultant for the Test series. In July 2021, he returned as interim head coach as Ravi Shastri-led coaching staff was in England.
An ICC Hall of Famer, the former batsman, played 164 Tests, 344 ODIs, and 1 T20I in his illustrious career. He has also worked with India A team, Rajasthan Royals, and Delhi Capitals as a coach. India is due to play a full series against New Zealand at home from November 17, which is three days after the T20 World Cup final in Dubai.
