ToggleRajasthan Royals Playing 11 (RR Playing XI) & Delhi Capitals Playing 11 (DC Playing XI), IPL 2024, Match 9: Rajasthan Royals (RR) will welcome Delhi Capitals (DC) in the ninth game of the ongoing IPL 2024. The RR vs DC game is scheduled to be played at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Thursday (March 28).
RR began their campaign with an impressive 20-run win over Lucknow Super Giants. Riding on captain Sanju Samson’s unbeaten half-century, RR piled up 193 for 4 before restricting LSG to 173 for 6. On the other hand, DC suffered a four-wicket defeat in their first game of the season.
While they did well to recover from 111 for 5 and post 174 for 9, Punjab Kings chased down the total quite comfortably. Before the game between RR and DC gets underway, we are taking a look at the probable playing elevens of both the teams.
RR Playing XI:
Openers: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler
Both Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler failed to score big against LSG in their last outing. While Buttler was out for 11, Jaiswal got a good start and raced away to 24 off 11 before being dismissed. The star openers would be looking to score big against DC.
Middle-order batters and allrounders: Sanju Samson (C), Riyan Parag, Shimron Hetmyer, Dhruv Jurel, Ravichandran Ashwin
Sanju Samson continued his traditional strong start to an IPL season as the right-handed batsman scored an unbeaten 82. The RR skipper is in contention for a spot in India’s T20 World Cup squad and will be eyeing another good outing. Parag has also started the ongoing campaign on a good note as he played a fine knock of 43 against DC.
Hetmyer failed to provide the finishing and was out for just 5 while Dhruv Jurel played an unbeaten cameo of 20 runs. Ashwin did not get the chance to bat and picked up 1 wicket while conceding 35 runs in his 4 overs.
Bowlers: Sandeep Sharma, Avesh Khan, Trent Boult, Yuzvendra Chahal
RR’s bowlers had a good outing against DC. Trent Boult picked up two wickets in the powerplay while Yuzvendra Chahal and Sandeep Sharma claimed one wicket each. Avesh Khan did not pick any wicket but conceded only 21 runs in his three overs.
DC Playing XI:
Openers: David Warner, Mitchell Marsh
David Warner and Mitchell Marsh are likely to be the openers for DC against RR. Both the Australia stars go the start against PBKS but failed to convert them. While Warner scored 29, March was out for 20. The experienced batters would look to score big against RR as DC eye their first win of the season.
Middle-order batters and allrounders: Shai Hope, Rishabh Pant (C), Ricky Bhui, Tristan Stubbs, Axar Patel, Sumit Kumar
DC’s middle-order did not have the best of outings against PBKS and the batters would be looking to bounce back. While Shai Hope scored 33, he would have liked to convert it into a big score. Rishabh Pant was out for 18 in his first competitive game since December 22 while the likes of Ricky Bhui (3) and Tristan Stubbs (5)failed to do well.
Axar Patel scored 21 runs and conceded only 25 runs in his 4 overs. Sumit Kumar had a poor outing with both bat and ball. He scored 2 runs off 9 balls and conceded 19 runs in 1.2 overs.
Bowlers: Kuldeep Yadav, Ishant Sharma, Khaleel Ahmed
DC suffered a big blow during their bowling innings when an ankle injury brought a premature end to Ishant Sharma’s participation in the game. The veteran bowler had conceded 16 runs in two overs in addition to dismissing Shikhar Dhawan.
He is likely to be fit for the upcoming game. On the other hand, Khaleel Ahmed conceded 43 runs in his 4 overs while taking two wickets. Kuldeep Yadav had a good outing with the ball as he picked up 2 wickets for 20 runs off his 4 overs.
