Mandeep Singh’s double hundred, Yuvraj Singh and Virender Sehwag’s hundred and Bengal’s struggle were the talking points on the day 2 of fourth round of Ranji Trophy 2014-15. 

Mandeep, Yuvraj make merry as Punjab post a mammoth total of 659

Mandeep Singh’s 235 and Yuvraj Singh’s 182 proved more than enough as Punjab posted a mammoth total of 659 in their first innings against Saurashtra at Rajkot. Resuming on 327/3 from day 2, Yuvraj, Mandeep punished the opposition bowlers and reached their respective landmarks. Both put on 379 runs for the 4th wicket before Mandeep got run-out by Vishal Joshi. Then came-in Gurkeerat Singh Mann and scored at a brisk rate to bring up his hundred. He remained unbeaten on 101 as Punjab declared their innings on 659/7. Saurashtra openers then started off cautiously and finished the day 2 on 27/0. 

Sehwag, Chand have Gujarat on back-foot 

Both Virender Sehwag and Unmukt Chand scored hundred as Delhi declared their first innings on 425/6 against Gujarat at Feroz Shah Kotla. Resuming on 178/1, Chand brought up his hundred and Sehwag played in his natural style to reach to his first hundred of the season. Sehwag scored 105 before losing his wicket to Pranjal Sutaria. Mithun Manhas and Sumit Narwal then scored some quick runs at the end to help Delhi reach 400. 

In reply, Gujarat lost their opener Samit Gohel early as they finished the day on 34/1. Offie Shivam Sharma took the wicket of Gohel. 

Mumbai pacer Shardul Thakur has Bengal reeling at 130/6

Shardul Thakur picked up a 5-fer as Bengal ended the day 2 on the verge of a follow-on. Resuming on 306/4 from day 2, Siddhesh Lad scored a fifty to take Mumbai’s total to 414. In reply, Bengal lost 4 wickets for just 42 runs before Manoj Tiwary played provided some stability with his innings of 63. But he also got out in the last session of the day, leaving the tail for tomorrow’s play.
