Ranji Trophy 2017/18: Ahead Of Quarter-Final, Manish Pandey Released From Karnataka For National Duty
Karnataka will miss out on the services of their star player Manish Pandey during the quarter-final of the Ranji Trophy against 41-time champion Mumbai.
Pandey is a part of the squad for the ODI series against Sri Lanka, which starts on December 10 while the quarter-final game will be played from December 7 to 11.

It comes as a big blow for the side. However, they are hopeful of gaining the services of KL Rahul for the contest. He has not been included in the playing XI for the ongoing Kotla Test against Sri Lanka and is also not a part of ODI side as well. Hence, he can be released from the squad in all probability.
Karnataka have called back Sreenath Aravind back to the team after he was dropped during the league phase. Vinay Kumar and Abhimanyu Mithun will continue to lead team’s pace attack.
With the team having a bowling all-rounder in the form of Stuart Binny, there can be a case when Aravind might be benched for the game. All-rounders Krishnappa Gowtham and Shreyas Gopal did well in the previous game against Railways and will continue to be the mainstay for the team.
Karnataka have a tough opposition in the form of Mumbai, and they would be hoping to defeat a depleted side which has been further weakened with Shardul Thakur being ruled out of the contest.
This game is the marquee clash of the quarter-final stage and will draw the maximum eyes out of all the four games. The match will also be televised.
Both Karnataka and Mumbai are hoping that they are allowed to field their key players in the contest to bolster their chances of a win.
The match will be played in Nagpur from December 7 to 11.
