Ranji Trophy 2017/18: Shardul Thakur Likely to be Out of Action for a Week
Mumbai pacer Shardul Thakur is expected to stay out of the rest of the contest between Mumbai and Tripura at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai.
As per a report in Sportstar, Shardul landed on his left shoulder awkwardly while attempting a high catch and was then headed straight to the dressing room after that.
It is a must-win the game for Mumbai, as only a win will guarantee them a place in the next round.

Though he (Shardul) did not take any wicket in the first-innings, his presence could have been quite essential for the team. At stumps, Mumbai were 77/3 in response to Tripura’s first innings total of 195.
Meanwhile, this issue to Shardul, for now, has ruled him out of the contention for the third Test squad. It is to be noted that Bhuvneshwar Kumar has opted out of the Delhi Test as well, and with suspense over Mohammed Shami’s injury, Sharul could have had a chance of getting called to the Indian team.
Though he is expected to be out of action for just a week, he can reclaim his place back in the limited-overs series. If the selectors announce squad for the South Africa Tests on the same day, he might get selected in that squad, as well by the virtue of being the next pacer in line.

Talking about the Ranji game, Mumbai had already suffered a loss when Rohit Sharma was surprisingly included in the playing XI for the Nagpur Test as Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) had already written to the BCCI for the release of him if he was not the part of playing XI. The chances of which were quite bright – but his inclusion meant that they had to choose from 14 members available. Mumbai selectors had left a spot open for Rohit but it was in vain.
