Tamil Nadu have released senior players Ravichandran Ashwin and Murali Vijay from the squad for their next Ranji Trophy game against Odisha.
As of now, Dinesh Karthik has not been named in the squad, but there is a chance of him coming back to the team as the game starts on November 9 while the last T20I between India and New Zealand will be played on November 7. Earlier in the tournament as well, Karthik flew from Hyderabad to Chennai on the eve of the game to join the squad, after the T20I game was abandoned due to rain.

Meanwhile, the outgoing of Ashwin and Vijay is a big loss for the team. Tamil Nadu have called in Malolan Rangarajan and V Lakshman to the side. The outgoing of Vijay from Tamil Nadu though might open the door for Baba Aprajith in the side. He was dropped from the playing XI for the previous contest.

The Test series between India and Sri Lanka will start on November 16, with the first Test match to be played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Before the start of the series, Sri Lanka will face Naman Ojha led Board President’s XI side at Eden Gardens to prepare for the series.
At present, Tamil Nadu are placed at the third rank in the points table with three draws in the bag. In their first game, they conceded the first inning lead to Andhra Pradesh while in the second and third contest, they earned the first innings lead against Tripura and a strong Mumbai side.
The fifth round contest between Tamil Nadu and Odisha will be played at Cuttack. Odisha is already playing a game at their home ground in Bhubaneshwar against Mumbai while Tamil Nadu have a week off.
R Ashwin and Murali Vijay sans side will look to register a win in the game as the continuous draw will not help their case in the race to the next round.
