Delhi continued its impressive show on day 2 of the Ranji Trophy game against Railways. Starting the day with a score of 318/6, Delhi added 129 runs to their overnight total.
Manan Sharma and Pulkit Narang batted quite patiently in the opening hours, adding crucial runs to the total. Soon, Manan added the 32 required runs to his total and reached his first first-class century. He has had eight half-centuries in his account, and it was the first time when he reached the three figure mark. Incidentally, he has played as an opener for Delhi in the past as well but never reached this milestone. Soon, Pulkit Narang also reached his maiden-half century.
After Manan’s dismissal on a score of 428, Delhi could just add 19 more runs and was dismissed for 447 in 144.5 overs.
Just like Delhi, Railways too had a poor start as Ishant Sharma uprooted the stumps of opener Saurabh Wakaskar on the first delivery of home side’s innings. He followed up with another wicket of Nitin Bhille in the in the fifth over, to pull the confidence of Railways down.
A couple from Manan Sharma further depleted the Mahesh Rawat led side and a wicket in the second last over from Ishant was the last thing which they could have asked.
At stumps, Railways were on a score of 58/5, trailing by a margin of 389 runs.
