Ranji Trophy 2017/18: Boys Have Performed as Good as You Can Get Out of Them – Parvez Rasool

A group of players suffering due to instability in their state association, Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) captain Parvez Rasool is the main man of the ship.
The 28-year-old cricketer is the only man with hope upon whom the rest of the players look up. Notably, bank accounts of the J&K state association have been frozen due to misappropriation of funds. The Board of Cricket Control of India (BCCI) has also stopped allocating resources to Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), as they failed to obey the Supreme Court orders on Lodha reforms.
Rasool, however, feels the situation needs to change as soon as possible, as the state association is in a very bad condition.
The driving force of the team Rasool, who has struck 617 runs in the last season with the bat has taken a six-wicket haul against the Kerala side taking his tally to 15 wickets, but couldn’t prevent Kerala from taking the first innings lead.
However, the cricketer admits that he has to perform on a daily basis, be with bat or ball, as the youngsters look forward to him. The off-spinner while talking to Indian Express said,
“The idea is to give 100 percent in every match, be it as a bowler, batsman or a senior member of the team. I know that the youngsters in the side are looking at me as a role model. So I have to do this. I am giving my best day in, day out.”
With a ray of hope for the past 3-4 seasons, Rasool had looked forward to state association to change the situations, but it didn’t happen. Talking about lack of infrastructure, Rasool admitted that there is no ground, no Association to look after the players. Satisfied with his team’s performance, the experienced cricketer mentioned that the cricketers have their level best to perform.
“To restrict Kerala to 219 and to score 400-plus against Rajasthan is no mean feat. We haven’t played a home game for the last three seasons. It’s very difficult for us and a huge challenge. But these things are not in our hands, and we can only do what we can, that is to play and give it our best,” the only cricketer to represent India from J&K said
Parvez Rasool, who took a five-wicket haul in a Duleep trophy match and missed a hundred by three runs has represented India in a T20 and an ODI match.
“I always have this thing in my mind that I have to perform whichever team I am playing for. As players, you can only do well. The rest is in the hands of the selectors,” the all-rounder signed off talking about his chances to make a comeback in the Indian team.
