Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) has named the 26-members preliminary squad for the upcoming Ranji Trophy season. Regulars like Rishi Dhawan, Dogra, Prashant Chopra and Nikhil Gangata have also been named.

Incidentally, Mayank Dagar, the former Under-19 player has not been included, and his commitments with the India Green side is deemed to be the reason for the same. The practice camp organised by the State Association will go until September 25, and the left-arm spinner is expected to return to the state only after September 22, if India Green do not qualify for the finals.

If they play the final against India Red, then he will only return after September 28.

Vikram Rathour, the Head Coach and Director of Cricket of Himachal Pradesh team and also one of the former selectors of Indian cricket team, will oversee the preparations during the camp. He switched his base to Himachal for the upcoming season after leaving Punjab the previous year.

Rishi Dhawan is expected to be named as the skipper of the side once again. Under his captaincy, Himachal Pradesh team finished as the fourth-placed team with three wins and six draws in nine games in the last Ranji season.
