Umesh took a break for a while and did not participate in Vidarbha’s previous contest against Punjab. He was not selected in the T20I series against Australia and just played one game in the ODI series against Australia. The selectors and skipper Virat Kohli are looking forward to him as a Test bowler.
His bowling partner in the longest format of the game, i.e. Mohammad Shami has played in both the Bengal’s games till now.

Coming next to Karn, the all-rounder missed the two games due to India A and Board President’s XI commitments. He was a part of India A for complete series against New Zealand A and was later added to the Board President’s squad as well along with KL Rahul.
Karn had switched his base from Railways to Vidarbha before the start of the season but is yet to make his debut for his new state. It will the first time when Karn would be playing for some other team than Railways in Ranji Trophy.

The all-rounder has been doing quite well in the chances which have been given to him by the selectors and now, he is close to a national call-up as well. Though he did not find a place in the Test squad against Sri Lanka for the first two games, it can be assumed that he is the next man in the line if the team needs his services.

The third round of the Ranji Trophy will start on October 24. Vidarbha will face Mohammad Kaif-led Chhattisgarh at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. Vidarbha defeated Punjab in Mohali in their previous game by a margin of an innings and 17 runs while Chattisgarh lost to Bengal in Raipur by an innings and 160 runs.
Vidarbha will look to continue the dominance with which they played their first game of the season.
