The BCCI recently announced the schedule for India’s upcoming domestic season 2022-23. More than 1,500 games will take place in the forthcoming season as India gear up to witness a full-fledged domestic season for the first time since Covid-19 struck. The season will kickstart in September 2022 and run until March 2023.

India’s domestic season will begin with the Duleep Trophy. On the other hand, Ranji Trophy 2022-23, one of the most important tournaments of the domestic circuit, will begin from December. So as the start of the domestic season inches closer, here are all the details regarding the Ranji Trophy 2023-23 season.

Ranji Trophy 2023-23: Schedule:

The full schedule of Ranji Trophy 2022-23 season is yet to be announced by the BCCI. The board, however, has announced the tentative dates for the tournament. India’s premier first-class competition will be held from December 2022 to February 2023. Ranji Trophy will begin on 13th December while the final matches of the league stage will be played from 27th January. The knockout stage is scheduled to start on 31st January.

Here is the tentative schedule for Ranji Trophy 2022-23:

Ranji Trophy 2023-23: Team list and groups:

India’s premier first-class competition will revert to its old format of having four elite pools and a plate division. The tournament was completely abandoned for the first time in 2020-21 season because of the pandemic. It made a comeback last season but was held as a truncated tournament.

Talking about the upcoming edition, Ranji Trophy will have two categories – Elite and Plate. The Elite Group will comprise 32 teams and will have 4 groups of 8 teams in a home and away format with each team playing 7 matches in the league stage. The top two teams from each of the four groups will directly qualify for the quarterfinals.

The Plate Group will have 6 teams with 15 league matches. The top 4 teams will directly qualify for the semi-final while the bottom two will play against each other for the 5th/6th place.
