Bengal players Ashok Dinda and Pragyan Ojha were involved in an ugly fight ahead of their state’s Ranji Trophy group league encounter against Tamil Nadu in Rajkot. In fact, the feud was so serious that both the former Indian players nearly came to exchanging blows.

As reported by the Press Trust of India, a source said the incident happened when the players were playing a football match during the training session. Dinda tackled a few players of the opposition team that was against the rules of the training session. Ojha finally lost his cool when one powerful shot from the fast bowler whizzed past his ears.

As quoted in the PTI, a source said:“The provocation did not come from Ojha who is a very cool fellow. It was Dinda who took a powerful shot that whizzed past Ojha’s ears. He could have got hurt and he was annoyed as he shouted at Dinda. He then charged at Ojha wanting to settle scores and Ojha just pushed him. He fell to the ground but by then the other members had come between them.”

The matter turned even more ugly when Dinda called the spinner, who switched to Bengal from Hyderabad last term, an ‘outsider’.

The team management is reportedly angry with the incident and told the players that their behaviour was unexpectable. The matter was also reported to Cricket Association of Bengal President Sourav Ganguly, who has asked the players to leave the incident behind and move on.
