The second day of the fifth round of Ranji Trophy brought two surprising news as two of the Ranji Trophy games were cancelled due to the high volume of smoke, smog and fog in Delhi. The match officials saw no hope of any action neither at Feroz Shah Kotla nor at Karnail Singh Stadium, thus leading to the cancellation of two Ranji Trophy games. BCCI will soon announce a new schedule for these two cancelled games.

Group A

 

 

The Indian discarded batsman Yuvraj Singh, who is doing every possible effort to make a comeback in the Indian team, today, struck a not-out half-century on the second day of the game against Railways. Coming in at a safe position, Yuvraj along with Uday Kaul shared 96 runs for the third wicket before Uday Kaul was caught by Kuldeep Yadav off Saurabh Kumar. Currently, Punjab is in a safe position and has a real chance of taking away three points from the game by taking first innings lead.

Group B

Chasing a huge target of 493 up by Jharkhand in the first innings, Delhi had a jittery start losing 3 wickets with a score of 74 on the board before the former vice-captain of India U-19 team, Rishabh Pant, once again came to rescue by scoring a century at a quite fast pace. At the time of stumps, Rishabh Pandit was batting on a score of 107* on just 84 balls. His innings included 8 sixes and 7 fours.

Earlier in the day, resuming his batting from a score of 162*, Ishant Kishan went on to add 111 runs to his yesterday’s total before getting out on a score of 262 on the board alongside his name.

The Indian all-rounder, Rishi Dhawan, made most of the noise in Group C scoring an unbeaten half century against Jammu and Kashmir at Ranchi. His innings came at the right time as the Indian team is looking for a fast bowling all-rounder and he can be the go-to man for them. Not to forget, Rishi Dhawan grabbed a 7 wicket haul in the last game and has now followed with a half century. Currently, he is on the list of best all-rounders in Ranji Trophy and has to follow with these performances to get a chance in the Test squad.
