Group A
In a low scoring game played on a pure green track of Lahli, Baroda Ranji team defeated Bengal by a margin of 21 runs on day two of the game. This win can be termed as a win by a big margin as on this tough track, a batsman was struggling to for every run. Each run scored through bat was none less than scoring a half-century.
Being asked to chase 155 runs in the final innings, Baroda seamers ran over Bengal batting line-up once again, ending up being on the winning side. To take a note, it were the seamers who grabbed all the 40 wickets in this game.

On judgement day when Gambhir had just last chance to impress selectors, he failed to capitalise on the opportunity and was dismissed on a mere score of 10. As a result, selectors did not pay heed to him and he was axed from the squad for the cost of a bowler, Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Shikhar Dhawan too failed to just make most out of the opportunity as he was looking good in the middle at the start but Pankaj Singh got him out on a decent score of 38 to get a big breakthrough for Rajasthan right in the first session of the day.
