KL Rahul, the latest debutant for India in Test Cricket during the Test series in Australia had made his batting easier coming after scoring Ton for National team against Australia, as he blasted to a Triple Century in Ranji Trophy game for his side, Karnataka; the defending champions.
KL Rahul, the Karnataka batsman playing at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, their home ground against Uttar Pradesh scored a mammoth 336 runs of 448 balls with help of 47 fours and 4 maximums.
Few records and stats recorded on to Rahul’s name courtesy of his 336:
–> KL Rahul became the first Karnataka batsman to score Triple ton in Ranji Trophy history. In this process, he got past previous Individual best for Karnataka of 284 by BM Rowland in 2004 against Madhya Pradesh.
–> Rahul’s triple century was 40th triple Century by any Indian in first class format with which he became the 31st Indian to score triple century in FC.
It was the 33rd Triple hundred in Ranji Trophy’s history and Rahul’s 336 was 8th highest individual score in Ranji Trophy as well as 8th highest by an Indian in first class cricket. In overall FC, it was jointly 57th highest individual total.
–> Rahul became the 12th Opener from India to score a Triple Century in FC; in overall the 14th Triple Century by Indians while opening in First Class cricket.
–> KL Rahul’s triple century was the second triple at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The first was by VVS Laxman who scored 353 in 1999; the highest individual score in FC at the venue.
