Punjab batsmen Gurkeerat Singh Mann and Uday have scored half centuries as they remained unbeaten at the end of Day 2 as Punjab managed 157/4 at the end of day’s play against railways in the Ranji trophy.
The Railways have made a decent 331 before getting all out as they lost wickets in a flurry in the opening session of Day 2. Punjab who went into the game as favorites were in deep trouble when they were reduced to 20/3 by Railways bowlers.
Yuvraj Singh who has been overlooked by selectors yesterday have come into batting to help the team rescue the precarious situation but has failed to make impact as he perished for just 9 runs in 35 balls as Punjab were left in deep trouble at 44/4.
Gurkeerat Mann has come into the bat and has jelled well with Uday Kaul as the duo looked solid in their batting as they have impressed with their calculative risk which has stabilized the Punjab batting which was in serious problem when Yuvraj Singh was dismissed.
Uday Kaul has managed 59 runs from 159 balls as his knock included 7 fours while Gurkeerat Mann has scored 66 runs from 97 balls as he managed 10 fours and a mighty six to give Punjab a glimmer of hope to get a first innings lead in Day 3.
The duo have managed to put up an impressive 113 run partnership which is set to be the focal point as both teams clash tomorrow. If Railways bowlers can manage to pick up one wicket early in the day tomorrow it could open the doors for the side to exploit tail-enders to get a deserving lead.
Railways bowlers have dominated in the initial overs but has looked clueless when Gurkeerat came to bat later in the day as he has been destructive throughout his innings.
