Ranji Veteran Wasim Jaffer is in Awe of Virat Kohli
The domestic stalwart Wasim Jaffer has lavished praise on Team India skipper for his burgeoning success. Jaffer added he would obviously opt to pick Kohli whom he wants to watch batting after paying.
Kohli has been remarkable to who has been influential for the national fold since making his debut in 2008.
In 2018, Kohli had a sensation run with the bat apart from his stunning results as a skipper. He recently sealed three major ICC Awards including the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy.
Jaffer Hails Kings Kohli:
Jaffer is in awe of Kohli while hailing his efforts owing to his competitiveness and sheer aggression. Recently, Kohli led India in the historic Test series win against Australia by 2-1. It followed by 2-1 ODI series victory, before sealing ODI series 4-1 on Kiwis shores.
“The way he keeps creating new records and leading the team with a winning mentality, he has walked the talk by winning away from home and the way the team is playing for the past couple of years, I think he is the best player in the world at the moment,” Jaffer told India TV.
The 30-year-old top-order batsman Kohli has inspired many with his consistent performance on any given conditions. Jaffer reiterated Kohli is the man to look at for the young crop whether it’s batting or fielding.
“Definitely Virat Kohli! He is one of the best players in world cricket right now. The way he keeps raising the bar for himself and the example he sets with his fitness, batting or fielding makes him a role-model for any young upcoming cricketer,” Jaffer added.
In 31 Tests for India between 2000 and 2008, the right-handed batsman amassed 1944 runs at an average of 34.10. He smashed five hundreds and 11 half-centuries.

Jaffer on Test openers for India:
Shaw, who missed out to feature in Australia due to an ankle injury, had a remarkable start in his International debut.
He smashed a fine hundred against the Windies in October 2018 at Rajkot. The right-handed batsman Shaw followed it with 70 and 33 in the second Test in Hyderabad.
Jaffer backed Agarwal as an opening partner of Shaw. Agarwal had a good outing in series Down Under.
The 27-year-old Karnataka-based star Agarwal made his international debut in December 2018 at Melbourne. He amassed 195 runs in two Tests at the average of 65. He has two fifties on his back. Karnataka-based star Agarwal made his international debut in December 2018 at Melbourne. The right-handed batter amassed 195 runs in two Tests at the average of 65. He has two fifties on his back.
“Prithvi Shaw and Mayank Agarwal would be my first-choice openers without a doubt. The way Shaw has played since he made his debut has been great to watch, though his injury right before the Australia series was unfortunate. Agarwal too has capitalised well on the few chances he has got in the team. So these two should make the cut for the next Test that the country plays,” said Jaffer.
In two ODIs, Jaffer could manage just 10 runs for the Men in Blue in November 2006.
