Young leg-spinner from Afghanistan, Rashid Khan has penned a deal with the Maratha Arabians for the upcoming edition of the T10 Cricket League in the United Arab Emirates.
Meanwhile, the organisers have decided to increase the franchises from six to eight. Furthermore, they gathered in Dubai on July 23 (Monday) for a mini draft, where they picked their icon players and chose four players to retain from their 2017 squads. The teams will meet again for the main draft on September 2nd to pick the rest of the squad.
However, the increase in teams will increase the length of the tournament. The 13 matches in four days tournament will extend to 28 games over ten days.
Arabians also picked Australia all-rounder James Faulkner and retained Alex Hales, Dwayne Bravo and Kamran Akmal from the previous season.
Maratha Arabians picked Rashid Khan as their icon players after his continuous success in various T20 leagues. He has been consistently doing well in the shortest format of the game. The leg-spinner guided Sunrisers Hyderabad to the finals of the recently concluded IPL.
The wrist-spinner has also done significantly well in all parts of the world and is a valuable addition to the squad. Rashid also seemed excited to join his new team in T10 Cricket League and urged support from his fans all over the world.
“I am super excited to be the Icon Player of the @marathaarabians team in season 2 of T10 League. Extend your support and cheer for my team this season. Let the game begin @parvezkhan24@sohailkhanofficial & Ali Tumbi #AalaReAala #MarathaArabians,” he wrote.
