KXIP’s new all-rounder Ravi Bishnoi has his aim set to take Rajasthan Royals skipper Steve Smith’s wicket in the IPL 2020. The 20-year-old had an amazing Under 19 World Cup last year with India. He was the highest wicket-taker in the tournament and attracted all the teams in the IPL auction in December 2019. Bishnoi was brought by KXIP for a whopping Rs 2 crore to add the youngster to the side.

The KXIP squad had started training after completing their quarantine. The IPL 2020 will begin from September 19 till November 10, a total 53-day campaign will see all the 8 teams play in UAE. The venue this time is UAE and matches will be played in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.

Ravi Bishnoi reveals his long admiration for KXIP coach Anil Kumble

The youngster is set to make his debut in the IPL playing for KXIP who are being coached by Former Indian legendary spinner Anil Kumble. Bishnoi revealed he has always been a fan of Anil Kumble and it’s like a dream come true for him to play under him.

“So far, my talks with him have been on reading match situations, because the stage is going up a notch. To try and hit areas that would work better. I have been working on my leg spinners and varying the pace of my deliveries. I will use the googly when the need arises.” said Ravi Bishnoi

“I have seen his 10 wickets against Pakistan so many times on YouTube. And, now here he is. It’s like a dream come true — where I was, and now I am bowling with him,” he told Hindustan Times.

I would like to get Steve Smith out: says Ravi Bishnoi

The Under 19 star for India has his aim set for IPL 2020. He has set sight to take the wicket of RR skipper Steve Smith. He said Smith plays spin very well and is the number 1 test batsman, so his wicket would a big one for him.

“I will take whatever comes. But yes, I would like to get Steve Smith out. He is the No1 Test batsmen and he plays spin very well.” said Ravi Bishnoi

Bishnoi stated that his plan was to continue his form from the U-19 world cup to the IPL but the lockdown was a setback on his plans. He also mentioned he watched the IPL’s reruns in this lockdown to better prepare for his debut campaign.

“It was a setback, but it’s the same for everyone. The target still is to deliver in the IPL. It’s a big stage that the world, including the selectors, are watching.”

 “Earlier, I watched for enjoyment. Now I look at which player is performing and how, his strengths and weakness, how the bowler is delivering, which areas is he hitting. I watch the matches a lot more closely, and think of what I would have done differently, in the same situation.” he added.

The IPL 2020 will be played between September 19 and November 10. The matches will be played in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah respectively
